There are 14 local government agencies or homeowner groups in Plumas County with responsibility for local fire protection. Organized below by type of Governance:

Fire Protection Districts (FPD) - Beckwourth Peak, Graeagle, Hamilton Branch, La Porte, Meadow Valley, Peninsula, Prattville-Almanor, Quincy

Community Service Districts (CSD) - Greenhorn Creek, Indian Valley, Long Valley, Plumas Eureka, West Almanor

Homeowners Association (HOA) - Bucks Lake VFD

Federal Responsibility Areas (FRA) - U.S. Forest Service, Plumas National Forest

State Responsibility Areas (SRA) - CAL FIRE

Below is a map of Direct Protection Areas (DPA) for wildland fire protection: FRA (green), SRA (red), LRA (white) *Much of the SRA land in Plumas County is covered by FRA via an exchange agreement. Exchange agreements (often called protection exchange agreements or reciprocal fire protection agreements) allow agencies to swap or share fire protection responsibilities so that the agency best positioned with resources respond to cover an area.
